Holly Learns to Swim – Golden Retriever Puppy

by Admin on July 12, 2009

Holly our 5 month old Golden Retriever Puppy learns to swim with a Life Jacket for the very first time. She loves the water and couldn’t wait to get in there! It was filmed at Kepala Pet Resort in Melbourne Australia. We had a great day. Heaps of photos on Holly’s website at www.adamonearth.com

Sorry about the music, YouTube made me change the song of the Beach Boys due to Warner Music complaining! Will try and change to something half descent, as I hat this song on there now!!!!

My dog learned how to swim by me taking her to a lake. I would throw a ball into the water and swim out with her (just in case) while she got it and swam back. Don’t worry I only threw it into about 3 or 4 feet of water so I could easily held her to keep her up if need be.

isnt it like an instinct for dogs to swim?

cuz we went out to the beach and we havent ever let him in water besides showers and we threw a tennis ball in the water by accident and my dog comes out of no where and jumps in the water, swims to the pine cone, and comes back!

Your dog is so cute! I have 2 golden retrievers. My dogs both learned to swim at the lake with a tennis ball, however I love how you have taught your puppy because even though they are natural swimmers they panic and splash their front paws out of the water a lot at first.

true but it takes them time to build up the muscles to be able to swim for longer periods without the life jacket.

She doesn’t need a life jacket, as swimming comes natural to a golden.
